Aishwarya Pissay Wins National Rally Championship for the Fifth Consecutive Time

Winning the windmill farm stages in Kethanur, Tamil Nadu, Aishwarya Pissay has become the National Rally Champion for the fifth consecutive time.

With the dominating performance in the women’s category at the penultimate of the FMSCI MRF Mogrip, the TVS Racing factory rider secured her eighth overall National Crown in Indian National Rally Championship (INRC) for two-wheelers 2021, organised by God Speed Racing and Coimbatore Auto Sports Club.

The 2019 World Cup winner, Aishwarya won all four stages of the Rally of Coimbatore with a commanding lead, accumulating 25 points to bring her total to 125 points from five rallies.

Earlier this year, Aishwarya met with an accident during the second-round while racing for the World Cup title in Jordan.

In 2017, she accidentally broke her collarbone. A ruptured pancreas put her out for months a year later. Aishwarya Pissay, being a vocal opponent of outdated sexist ideas such as "maybe riding bikes is a boy thing." Instead, Miss Pissay was wearing a helmet and was found riding two wheels less than a week after her accident, giving competitors a run for their money.

Aishwarya bounced back quickly in the field of racing right after her recovery from all the surgeries. She has not lost even a single race since then.

She also conquered the Warm-up race in the Rally of Himalayas, a daunting task, which blemished her record against numerous competitors.

On Sunday, she set the fastest time in each of the four stages, easily outrunning her competitors.

“It has been a roller-coaster ride for me. Nevertheless, I was keen to put my accident behind and get back to routine. With great support from my team and the fantastic TVS Apache RTR 200, I was able to not only get back into full action but regain my winning touch.”

Aishwarya continued to add, “I was able to claim the National Championship with a round to spare because of my team.”
