Sleeping for an inadequate period of time is referred to as sleep deprivation. It is noteworthy that sleep deprivation is the cause of innumerable health problems such as stress, anxiety, uncontrollable mood swings, inability to focus on significant issues and tasks- whether at work or at home- and a general disinterest in activities that one previously considered enjoyable!
Whereas most of us experience sleeplessness prior to a major presentation at work or college; persistent inability to get ample sleep can result in several problems such as inability to concentrate effectively, poor reflexes and aggressive outbursts. Moreover, according to reliable road traffic experts, excessive loss of sleep can be as devastating for a motorbike rider as alcohol impairment thereby resulting in imaginable catastrophe and irredeemable deaths.
It is noteworthy that lack of sleep severely affects a biker’s coordination thereby hampering the rider’s ability to focus on the road ahead. Moreover, since sleep deprivation slows one’s reflexes, it decreases the biker’s tendency to maintain firm control over the bike’s hand controls thereby increasing the risks of high impact collisions and accidents.
Aside from the high degree of disorientation caused by sleep deprivation, most riders who are under slept also complain about irritability and impatience. Both of these emotional states impair a rider’s judgment thereby shadowing her/his ability to correctly decipher speed limits and read sign posts.
In addition to this, droopy eyelids result in blurry vision thereby preventing one from focusing on one’s terrain. This concentration lapse in turn decreases one’s ability to rightly ascertain the distance between one’s bike and the nearest vehicle/motorbike thereby increasing the likelihood of a rear end collision.
Furthermore, hazy vision caused as a result of sleep deprivation also propels the bikers to ride in zigzag patterns on the road thereby increasing the likelihood of a motorcycle crash. Such a devastating crash can prove to be fatal and unimaginably catastrophic especially if the bike accidentally collides against an oil container! Therefore, the most prudent of all bikers will ensure that she/he gets ample sleep the night before a long trip.
