Electric motorcycles are not very common as they are currently a luxury due to being very expensive. This is why gas motorcycles are still popular for old and young riders.
The movement to promote clean energy and electric-powered motorbikes is not going at the right pace. Electric motorcycles don’t seem to dominate the motorcycle market in the coming decade or two.
Motorcycle engineers have not yet found the right lightweight and cost-effective technology. Current electric motorcycles are either way too heavy or have low range.
There are numerous problems with the electric motorcycle industry, so most major brands hesitate to invest more in this field. The major problem with electric motorcycles is still to keep the price lower.
Relevant Story: Pros and Cons of Gasoline Alternative Motorcycles
Above all, there is also a lack of a strong charging network and, most importantly, a fast-charging system. However, the major drawback of electric motorcycles is that they are still in a higher price range.
Nevertheless, the electric motorcycle market still has a lot of potential. Electric motorcycles are the future of the motorcycling industry. There is no way we can continue using petrol-powered motorcycles in the future.
If you are one of those who support the clean energy movement, electric motorcycles are the way forward. If the high price tag stops you from owning one, we have listed the most budget-friendly electric motorcycles available in the U.S.

1. Ryvid Outset
Ryvid is an electric motorcycle manufacturer in Irvine, California, United States. The company was founded by Dong Tran, who is a professional designer.
Ryvid currently produces two electric models. One of them is the Ryvid Outset, designed for multi-road adventures. It is a versatile, low-cost electric motorcycle that can be used for both urban commuting and off-road traveling.

The Ryvid Outset features adjustable suspension for multi-road performance. It uses a removable 4.3 kWh battery with an integrated 3.3 kW fast charger.
The Ryvid Outset features razor-sharp styling with an overall basic design and small size. The seat starts immediately behind the handlebars as there is no gas tank, making the bike look shorter.
It is the most affordable electric motorcycle to buy in the U.S. Also, it is not a scooter. Above all, there is no compromise on the look and design of this bike. It may look small, but it is fully functional because it is an electric motorbike.
The Ryvid Outset ultra-light frame weighs only as little as 12 lbs. Also, the weight of this bike is mostly centered down low, making the bike more nimble, easy to maneuver, and highly responsive in almost every situation.
With a 220 V level 2 charging, you can charge the battery from 0-100% in 1.85 hours. However, with 110 V charging, the bike will take almost 3.25 hours to charge to full.
The Ryvid Outset has a headlight, tail lamp, turn signals, side mirrors, and hand guards. It also features premium Dunlop Mutant tires, which are ideal for versatile riding. It is also equipped with a 4.9-inch clear TFT display.

2. Ryvid Anthem
The Ryvid Anthem is the company's other highly affordable electric urban commuter. It is more like a lightweight electric roadster bike for easy and comfortable commuting within the city.
The Ryvid Anthem uses the same engineering design and battery. The power pack is integrated with the engine at the belly section. The bike uses the same ultra-lightweight frame or chassis.
There are several common features in both models. However, the few differences make the Ryvid Anthem and Outset very different regarding purpose.
The Ryvid Anthem is a bit sportier, with a slightly lower front-end geometry and greater angle of attack. The handlebars are also mounted slightly lower than the Outset. The seat installed on the Ryvid Anthem is also flat.
Both the Ryvid Anthem and Outset are ideally designed for solo riding. The Anthem’s front end is also very different, with an aggressive-style headlight design. Considering its sharp look, it seems it has taken inspiration from the H-D LiveWire models.
The Ryvid Anthem is slightly priced higher than the Ryvid Outset because it is a little more advanced and stylish.
This bike also features an adjustable seat height feature. You can easily switch between 31-34 inches with a simple button push.

3. Volcon Grunt EVO Hunter's Edition
The Grunt EVO electric motorcycle is not only among the cheapest electric motorcycles, but it is a stylish dual-purpose bike. It is a great hunting platform if you are looking for an electric motorbike. It only costs $5,999.
Thanks to its off-road-style fat tires, you can comfortably take this bike for off-road adventures.
Volcon is a new electric motorcycle manufacturer that was established last year in Autin, Texas, USA. The company has also recently launched the MN1, a lightweight utility vehicle (LUV), and an e-bike known as the Volcon Brat.
The Volcon Brat has the same styling and frame as the Volcon Grunt EVO but also has a pedal mechanism to keep the bike running. It costs $2,399.
After being introduced at a starting price of $5,999, the price was increased to $7,999. However, it was a bad idea as Volcon urgently had to reverse the decision.
As per the price mentioned on the company’s official website, it is available again for $5,999. However, it is a limited-time offer. Those looking for a perfect off-road electric motorcycle with great styling and for hunting purposes can now avail themselves of the offer.
On top of being electric-powered, the carbon belt drive makes it quieter. It is also a very comfortable electric motorbike, making you sit upright.
The Grunt EVO is only marketed as an off-road bike for dirt track adventures and hunting. It has a decent headlamp, but there are no turn signals.
It has a single-piece bench-style long saddle, which you usually find on a scrambler bike. Unlike the Ryvid Anthem or Outset, there is a gas-tank-style container behind the handlebars for battery storage.
The Volcon Grunt EVO comes with a single battery in the stock arrangement. You can have more power and range with the Grunt Dual Battery Upgrade Kit, available for $300.
Volcon also aims to reach and expand its business in other parts of the USA, particularly in Latin America.

4. Kollter ES1-S Pro
Kollter is another US-based electric motorcycle company in California. It currently offers five affordable different electric motorcycle models for different purposes.
The Kollter ES1-S Pro is a dual sport-style electric bike. Despite its off-road look, it is an urban commuter who can cruise on highways. However, don’t spend too long on highways on the ES1-S Pro, as the range will be compromised.
The off-road version of this bike is also available, known as the Kollter ES1-X Pro. The only major difference between these two models is the tires. The ES1-S Pro has street-biased smooth tires with decent treads. Meanwhile, the ES1-X Pro has off-road-biased knobby tires.
The Kollter ES1-S Pro slightly resembles the Zero FXE. However, it doesn’t look as premium as the Zero FXE because it is priced lower. You can buy the ES1-S Pro at a very affordable price of $6,995.
It can comfortably touch top speeds of above 70+ mph. This bike is an ideal urban commuter despite its limited highway performance. Considering the price range, it offers great value for the money.
The range is considerably shorter than some of the expensive premium electric motorcycles. The Kollter ES1-S Pro only offers 65 miles of city range.

6. CSC RX1E Electric Motorcycle
The CSC RX1E was launched in 2023 and is a successful electric motorcycle by the not-so-popular CSC. It is an adventure touring electric motorbike with a decent look. You must not compare it with the looks of the premium ADV touring bikes, like the BMW and KTM ADV bikes.
However, considering its class and price range, the RX1E looks great. It is a highway-capable electric bike and comfortable enough for long rides. However, being an electric bike, you must charge it as soon as the battery goes down.
Relevant Story: Where and How to Charge Your Electric Motorcycle
It looks like an ADV-style bike, but the CSC RX1E is an urban commuter in nature. On top of a great look, this bike also offers superior comfort. The rider can comfortably sit in an upright position. The handlebars are also within easy reach of the rider. The footpegs are mid-mounted but offer a relaxed knee position.
The CSC RX1E takes longer to charge from 0-100%. It takes almost 6 hours with a 110 V level-1 charger. It uses a 6.16 kWh Lithium Ion battery to drive the liquid-cooled DC permanent magnet motor.
The DC motor produces a claimed peak power of 24 hp and a torque of 61.2 lb-ft. The decent power figures only make this bike good for an urban commuter and get the job done if the rider has to reach a certain destination. However, you need to ensure that the destination isn’t far enough to fall above its range limit.
The CSC RX1E also has ABS, and the suspensions are preload adjustable with rebound damping, making rides safer and more comfortable. It also features three ride modes: Eco, Comfort, and Sport. In Sport Mode, you can ride this bike at a maximum speed of around 85 mph.
The most interesting part is that the CSC RX1E has a price tag of $8,495, which is all right considering the value of the money it offers. However, as of now, the company is offering a substantial discount on this model, and you can buy it at a sale price of $6,995.

7. Zero XB
Zero, the established American electric motorcycle manufacturer, has finally launched its low-cost electric dirt bikes. It is unusual for Zero Motorcycles to build something affordable for electric motorcycle enthusiasts. The Zero XB costs only $4,195.
However, it is merely a motorcycle. It is the lightest electric dirt bike, lighter than some electric bicycles. Considering its bodywork, it can be compared to a bicycle. The bodywork is minimal, with only a small frame piece, small saddle, front forks, tires, and battery.
The Zero XB looks more like a mountain bike. The battery is mounted horizontally, keeping the bike compact and the wheelbase shorter. It is the slimmest electric dirt bike. The tires are pretty knobby for superior off-roading.
The Zero XB weighs only 139 lbs. Considering its lightweight, it makes off-roading easy for beginner dirt riders. However, the range is quite limited due to the affordable price tag.
It is equipped with a small 2.4 kWh 74 V swappable lithium battery, offering onlyten0 hp of maximum horsepower and 40 miles of range at 31 mph. The Zero XB has a top speed of only 47 mph. Being designed and built by Zero Motorcycles, you must expect good quality.

8. Zero XE
The Zero XE is a more powerful version of the Zero XB with a bigger power pack and powerful motor. Due to being bigger and better, it comes at a higher price tag of $6,495 compared to the Zero XB.
Considering its size and width, the Zero XE falls under the same class as the Zero XB. It is a lightweight, electric dirt bike with slightly better range and off-road performance.
The Zero XE has a curb weight of 223 lbs. The 4.3 kWh removable lithium power pack delivers 20.1 hp of peak power and 468 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheel.
This bike can go at a top speed of 53 mph. At 31 mph constant speed, the Zero XE ensures a maximum range of 65 miles. It is bigger than the Zero XB and more like a proper-sized dirt bike.
The bigger battery takes longer to charge. The 4.3 kWh battery takes 5.5 hours to charge from 0-100% with a level 110 V outlet. If you want to continue your off-road journey on the Zero XE, carry a charged spare battery to swap it whenever the first one is drained.
Bring the more expensive bike in the X range; the Zero XE offers multiple rider aids and features, making off-road rides more fun. The tech package includes three ride modes, switchable traction control, and hill hold settings.
The Zero XE will not be sold as a street-legal electric motorcycle in the US. It can only be sued for dirt riding in the US. However, for the European motorcycle market, it is street-legal.
