The EICMA 2024 recently took place, and, as always, it was a hit show. However, most motorcycle companies did not reveal many new motorcycles at the event. The one motorbike that caught the attention of most attendees and motorcycle lovers was the BMW F 450 GS.
The company has revealed the all-new BMW F 450 GS concept bike at EICMA 2024. It is a smaller adventure bike in the BMW GS series that will surely compete in the beginner ADV bike segment. Hopefully, it will be the most budget-friendly option in the BMW GS series for beginners and intermediate riders.
The German manufacturer made a smart move as we recently observed the gap in the small ADV bike segment. Bikers are looking for more affordable, lighter, and beginner-friendly adventure bikes.
We all observed how well the recently introduced CF Moto 450 MT did in sales. BMW expects the same to capture this market with the BMW F 450 GS.
The bike has received a very warm welcome from the motorcycle community. The BMW stand at EICMA 2024 always remained busy throughout the event thanks to the all-new BMW F 450 GS.
According to the sources, the BMW F 450 GS’ production will start in 2025 and be made available for purchase at the end of 2025.
Let’s get to know more about this cool-looking middleweight adventure concept bike.
1. The All-New BMW F 450 GS First Look
It looks like the BMW F 450 GS is inspired by the recently introduced BMW R 1300 GS this year. The bike looks more sporty, aggressive, and lighter. On top of being super adventurous, it also looks to ensure a dominating on-road performance thanks to its bolder and sportier styling.

It has received an aerodynamic design with the iconic beak-shaped front end and a bulbous tank design, which you find on a sports bike. The handlebars look decently swept back for an upright riding stance.
The LED headlight pattern is the same as we saw on the BMW R 1300 GS. The tires look super knobby and off-road-biased for extreme adventure rides.
The iconic BMW colors, including white, blue, and red, make it more attractive. The gold-anodized front forks ensure a premium look.
The 19-inch front and 17-inch laced-spoke wheels ensure a decent ground clearance and a tough look to this bike.
2. The All-New 450 cc Parallel-Twin Engine
The 2025 BMW F 450 GS will feature a 450 cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine. Though the specs sheet isn’t revealed yet, the engine is expected to produce a peak horsepower of 48 hp. It will have a redesigned powertrain.
As per the tests performed, the company has also revealed that the new engine makes the bike feel lively. It produces an exceptional low-end torque. Also, the torque is evenly distributed across the rev range, making this bike more fun.
3. Unusual 125° Firing Interval
The company also claims that the bike will have the most unusual firing interval, which has not been used before on any bike. Japanese manufacturers' most common parallel-twin engines have a 180° firing interval.
The recently introduced CF Moto 450 MT’s parallel-twin engine has a firing interval 270°. Such firing intervals provide a V-Twin sound to make these bikes more interesting.
However, BMW claims that the all-new BMW F 450 GS parallel-twin engine will have a firing interval of 125°. This is surprising for riders as they are unsure how a parallel-twin engine with a 125° firing interval sounds or feels to ride.
It can be a unique selling point if this works for the BMW F 450 GS and the company.

4. BMW F 450 GS: Lighter and Perfect
The Steel Trellis Frame has been completely redesigned for the all-new BMW F 450 GS. The fit and finish also look perfect, as you expect from BMW. The lightweight frame and components make this bike feel much lighter.
The Lead Engineer of this concept project, Marc Weber, says:
“We were able to start developing this vehicle with a clean slate. The aim was to enable excellent off-road capability and, at the same time, agile and precise handling on the road.
Accordingly, the BMW Concept F 450 GS has a fully adjustable upside-down fork and a shock absorber with load-dependent damping, drawing on rally and enduro sports technology.
Using lightweight construction and other state-of-the-art solutions, we can create a sensationally light vehicle close to the minimum weight requirement in the A2 class of 175 kg (385 lb).”
Though we are unsure whether it is wet or dry, attaining a 175 kg mark is still exceptional. It can make the BMW F 450 GS a perfect off-road adventure bike.
The current offerings in the BMW GS Adventure family include the BMW R 1250 GS and the recently introduced BMW R 1300 GS and BMW R 1300 GS Adventure, which are great ADV bikes. However, they seem quite overwhelming for most riders, even experienced ones. These bikes are quite heavy for the challenging off-road terrains.
The all-new BMW F 450 GS seems to fill in the gap perfectly. The looks, engine, performance figures, and measurements we have learned so far tell us that this bike is highly suitable for a great off-roading experience.
5. BMW F 450 GS Electronics & Features
The company hasn’t officially released the specs sheet or the list of features the BMW F 450 GS will have. However, we learned from the sources that it will have a 6.5-inch TFT display, lean-sensitive ABS, and switchable ride modes.
6. Last Words
We are unsure whether the BMW F 450 GS displayed at EICMA 2024 is the final version. Several changes are expected to be made to this bike as it is still a concept version. However, the lead engineer hopes to keep this bike closer to what the company has displayed.
“Following the sporty off-road focus of the Concept BMW F 450 GS, we will implement the bike as close as possible to this concept. We will only adjust the seat height for better accessibility and easier handling.
As an alternative to the cross-spoke wheels (19 inches front, 17 inches rear), lightweight but high-strength cast aluminum wheels in the same dimensions are also conceivable.”
The all-new BMW F 450 GS production version is expected to be displayed at EICMA 2025.
As we have seen in the past, motorcycle manufacturers usually don’t produce a completely new engine for just one particular model. More new BMW models are expected to be seen with the 450 cc parallel-twin engine.
Stay tuned to get more updates regarding the all-new BMW F 450 GS.
